What is a T Visa?
A T Visa is a special type of visa in the United States designed to help victims of human trafficking.
Benefits:
- Legal stay in the U.S.
- Work authorization.
- Access to certain benefits and services for trafficking survivors.
- Ability to apply for lawful permanent residence (green card) later.
- Possibility to include certain family members as derivatives (spouse, children, parents, siblings in some cases).
Who can qualify:
To be eligible, a person must:
- Be a victim of human trafficking.
- Be physically present in the U.S. because of trafficking.
- Cooperate with law enforcement in the investigation or prosecution of traffickers (with some exceptions, especially for minors or if trauma prevents cooperation).
- Show that they would suffer extreme hardship involving unusual and severe harm if removed from the United States.
